Hobbies : Cycling, soccer but mainly Surfing. Enjoying good food and reading books

From an early age Viktor has been passionate about sports. He played football throughout his whole youth and he is still active in futsal. he is also an avid surfer with 6 years of experience as a surf coach at the travel organization Boardx. Besides surfing and indoor football, he also likes to play tennis, swimming, running, and recently lost his heart to cycling. This gives him the energy to help athletes achieve their personal goals.

Viktor working with our athletes in September 2019. He is also a mental coach for the Development team of Oud-Heverlee Leuven (OHL) (U15 & U21) and the Coordinator Mental Department OHL Leuven. He is also a sport psycholigist for Grit Belgian Sports Clinic, The Flemish Fencing Federation and Sport Support.

Viktor Van der Veken graduated in 2013 as a Work and Organizational Psychologist from the Catholic University of Leuven. Afterwards he obtained a postgraduate degree in practice-oriented sports psychology at the KU Leuven.

With his passion for the mental aspect of performance optimization and with his extensive experience as a sports psychologist, he helps people to get the best out of themselves. The ultimate goal of mental training is to teach each individual or team to use their own potential optimally in order to achieve peak performance. As a performance psychologist, he sees it as his mission to help athletes to get the best out of theirselves. He achieves this by increasing their self-insight, learning mental skills and strengthening their mental resilience. In this way they develop greater self-reliance and so they can improve performance. The purpose of the mental training is to learn to use everyone’s potential optimally.

His main goal with our athletes is in helping them to become better athletes and supporting them on their way to obtain their goals. Aiding critical self-reflection in order to keep pushing to improve and become better & better without losing fun nor satisfaction during the whole process
